06.05.2015 — Dussmann employees maintain cleanliness and security at the German Pavilion at the EXPO 2015 (May 1 to October 31)
Work started on May 1 for the 60 service operatives deployed by the German service provider Dussmann Service. When the universal exposition EXPO Milano 2015 opened, they took on responsibility at the German Pavilion for cleaning in all areas and for the security of the visitors and staff. 16,000 visitors are expected each day to the 2,680 square meters of exhibition space in the pavilion. The floors, the glass, the installations and the 109 theme stands must be kept clean and tidy right up to when the last visitor of the day leaves. The constant flow of people is gently and efficiently channeled through the exhibition.
In cooperation with the Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH, as the project organizer on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy, the Dussmann team was familiarized with the features of the pavilion and the needs of the visitors and received specific training. Erol Altunay is the director of the German Pavilion at the EXPO Milano 2015. “It is very important to us that our visitors are given a warm welcome and that our 170 employees are happy. Dussmann Service helps us make sure that they are.”
Dussmann Service provided cleaning and security services at the German Pavilion during the EXPO 2010 in Shanghai. It then won the Europe-wide tender for the same services at the EXPO Milano 2015.
Rarely have the EXPO theme and its location been so well suited: “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”. 148 nations and organizations demonstrate the importance of healthy, secure and sufficient food. This is the focus of the EXPO in Italy, a country that perhaps more than any other, places emphasis on quality, sustainably produced food.
The federal republic examines how politics, business, research and civil society approach this subject. The impressive architecture of the German Pavilion “Fields of Ideas” recalls the fields and woodlands of the German countryside: the building is a gently rising landscape with an open and freely accessible upper floor. Inside are theme stands where “idea seedlings” symbolizing Germany’s contributions to sustainable global food production grow.
When the 184 days of the EXPO 2015 are over at the end of October and its doors close, the Dussmann Service cleaning and security professionals, recognizable by their red and white uniforms, will have covered hundreds of kilometers with their cleaning equipment and whilst guiding visitors from all over the world through the German Pavilion.
